Your next relaxing spot is a rural setting next to the beach.

Porto Formoso, named by the island´s discoverers, is located on São Miguel´s north coast.

Just a few steps from Vivienda Xavier is the beautiful bay of Praia dos Moinhos, surrounded by cliffs, crossed by a stream that used to move the propel of the mill´s waterwheels, reflecting in the beach name.

Not far from the beach is a mineral water source, rich in potassium, sprouting at a temperature of around 30ºC. The thermal baths of Ladeira da Velha, once frequented by patients who sought these waters and stayed in a small rest house. Ladeira da Velha memorizes also the battle between Liberals and Absolutists from 1829 to 1834.

Tea production

Unique in Europe! Due to biological diseases are two of the many plantations and tea factories remaining: Porto Formoso and Chá Goreana tea factories. Pay a visit and enjoy panoramic gardens, interesting museums and nice tea rooms.

We, Luís and Margreet Xavier own this unique place with beautiful views. Luís my husband next to me in the photo is the manager of our holiday home. He will have the pleasure of being your contact person.

This is what he says about himself: I like to observe, it allows me to form ideas about people, animals and about things in life. I love teaching because I can pass on what little I know to those who want to know what I know. I like to write lyrics for songs that are sung and offered to those who can enjoy them. I like sleeping because it is usually good to dream. I like the Azores because they offer divine beauty, this place of the world embraces me with its nature and surprises me incessantly, miraculous properties. I love good wine because I am a son of the earth, love football, even still not knowing the reason why. I adore the sun because it warms me up, I like a good joke to wake up or to interrupt the melancholy of the routine.The well-being of my guests is dear to me, I feel good in my little cozy place to share the sea with others.
